People Are Like Snakes
They sharpen their tongues as a serpent; poison of a viper is under their lips.
His mouth is full of curses and deceit and oppression; under his tongue is mischief and wickedness.
'You shall not go about as a slanderer among your people, and you are not to act against the life of your neighbor; I am the LORD. '
Who have sharpened their tongue like a sword. They aimed bitter speech as their arrow, To shoot from concealment at the blameless; suddenly they shoot at him, and do not fear.
But no one can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil and full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father; and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God; from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be this way.
"And I say to you, that every careless word that men shall speak, they shall render account for it in the day of judgment. For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned."
