The Purpose of God's Kindness
For the LORD is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting ....
The LORD is good to all, and His mercies are over all His works.
"And in the generations gone by He permitted all the nations to go their own ways; and yet He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness."
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.
For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God ....
and He died for all, that they who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.
