Jesus Christ is Lord

who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 1:4)

Christians believe that there is one God, and that He exists as three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is what is called the Trinity. The word trinity means a set of three things or persons that form a unit of one. We think of God as three persons because God has chosen to disclose Himself to us in this way. The first person of God is called the Father. The second person of God is Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God. A son, because he is the offspring of his father, is considered to be a part of his father. Jesus is called the Son of God because He is the part of God that came to earth to be a man. God the Father was still in heaven when God the Son was living on earth. Because God has unlimited power, God can be as many persons in as many places as He wants to be. He has no problem at all being in heaven, and being on earth as a man at the same time.

It is a well documented historical fact that Jesus Christ lived and that He also died on a cross in the 1st Century A. D. While He was living on earth, Jesus displayed His power by performing many miracles. Some of these miracles are recorded for us in the Bible. Jesus turned water into wine and fed thousands with just a few loaves of bread and a few fish. He calmed storms, healed the sick and gave sight to the blind. These were all amazing feats. But it was His power over death that proved He was God. Several times before his death, Jesus predicted that He would die and be raised from the dead. Later, when Jesus did die on the cross and actually was raised from the dead, it proved that He really was God. At the time of His death, Jesus had only a handful of followers. If He had remained in the grave, Jesus would most likely have been all but forgotten a short time later. However because of His resurrection from the dead, Jesus has not been forgotten. Jesus Christ lives and His kingdom continues to grow. It is amazing to consider that, more than 1900 years after His death and resurrection, hundreds of millions of people believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

What a marvelous description of Jesus that we have in the name Jesus Christ our Lord. The word Jesus is from the Greek word lesous which means "God is salvation, (or He is the Savior)". Christ is translated from the Greek word Christos and means "Messiah, the anointed one of God". The word Lord is from the Greek word kurios and it means "supreme in authority, God, Lord, or master". Jesus Christ is our God and our Savior (Titus 2:13). Even though Jesus is God, He humbled Himself and came to earth to be a man. Even though Jesus is God, He died a horrible death on a cross to pay the penalty for our sins. After He died, Jesus was raised from the dead, proving that He really is God. Because of all that it means, Jesus Christ our Lord is the name that glorifies God the most. The Bible says, that if we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, our sins will be forgiven and we will receive eternal life. Have you ever done that? If not, tell Jesus now that you are sorry for your sins. Ask Him to forgive you for them. Tell Jesus that you want to follow Him as your Lord and Savior. Ask Him to help you to do that. You cannot truly worship God, unless you have received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
