Northeastern Minnesota, selected information
The Laurentian Divide is a unique geographic feature - a hilly ridge running east and west
through the approximate center of St. Louis County.  It marks the directional division for the flow of rivers.
Streams
south of the Divide flow into the Mississippi River and ultimately into the Gulf of Mexico,
or east
into Lake Superior and on to the Atlantic Ocean.

Rivers
north of the Divide flow into Canada and ultimately the Arctic Ocean.
